Welcome to Great Amwell Nursery School - Hertfordshire
Introduction by Louise Raja, Nursery Owner / Manager
Great Amwell is a small private friendly nursery school registered for 26 children age from 2 to almost 5 years. We are located in Great Amwell Parish hall next door to St John's The Baptist School, Great Amwell Hertfordshire. We are lucky enough to be surrounded by idyllic country side, greenery and open fields.
We have an indoor classroom and outdoor classroom which is an enclosed decked area with a lovely green canopy stretching across it. This means we can access the outdoors it all year round! To the front of the hall we have a sensory and wildlife garden. We also use the Vicar's field and the school playground for outdoor play and make the most of our lovely rural location by taking the children for nature walks around the village or to feed the ducks at Great Amwell Pond! This Autumn (2009) we are planning to have our own pets (guinea pigs!) for the first time.
The nursery has a very good name locally and is OFSTED registered, fire officer and environmental health inspected and approved. We have a curriculum and encourage the children to develop and learn using the Early Years Foundation Stage. (EYFS) I have owned the nursery for 3 years and truly love what I do. During this time I have really built up the team and the resources and am striving to provide a really fun and educational experience for all the children who come to us. I am also a qualified EYP (Early Years Professional. This is a postgraduate or level 6 qualification. The staff team are also well qualified. For details of this please see meet the Team on this website.
Our mission statement is to provide 'the best start for every child', I want the nursery to be an extension of home for the children somewhere they can not only learn but make friends, relax, be themselves, build confidence and feel safe and secure. We are keen to encourage diversity and inclusion and children from a wide range of backgrounds attend the nursery.
At present the government provides funding to ensure a nursery education is accessible for all children regardless of background. All over 3's are entitled to up to 15 free hours a week from the term after their 3rd birthday, and some under 3's will also be entitled to funding. An up to date summary of fees can be provided on request and even if your child is not eligible for funding when they first join us I aim to ensure we remain very affordable. In short, whoever you are, I hope we will have something to offer you!
Finally, we hope our Website answers common concerns for a prospective new child and their family but if you really want to get a feel for our nursery then come and visit us. Please call me on the landline number or the nursery mobile if it is term time if you would like to find out more.
If you would like your child to join, please complete your Application to join form and return it to me ASAP to add your child to the wait list. I look forward to meeting you at nursery soon!
